Tariff Policies Change Rapidly – Pacifinex Keeps You Informed!

Multiple updates to global tariff policies emerged last week, with China-US tariff reductions and EU-US trade remedy measures advancing in parallel.

On September 26, China and the US reached a deal on reciprocal tariff cuts covering around $30 billion of goods each. The two sides will offer preferential tariff treatment for roughly $30 billion worth of non-sensitive products respectively, including agricultural goods, timber, cosmetics, small home appliances and toys. Full list details will be released on September 29, Beijing Time.

Meanwhile, the US has ramped up trade enforcement. On September 21, the US Commerce Department issued a preliminary anti-dumping ruling on Chinese tin products, maintaining a weighted average anti-dumping duty rate of 136.52% and extending provisional measures.

In Europe, the EU imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on Chinese pea protein starting September 25, with rates ranging from 40.5% to 67.1% for a five-year term.

Opportunities and trade barriers are emerging side by side. Continued monitoring of list implementation and risk control is advised.
