Multiple new tariff regulations took effect last week.

Starting September 3, the United States imposed additional tariffs on certain imported drones and their components. Some items are subject to a tariff rate as high as 100%, while other relevant products incur a 25% duty. Import costs for drones and their supply chains will rise further.

Meanwhile, trade frictions between Canada and the U.S. persist. Canada announced it will impose retaliatory tariffs on selected U.S.‑origin imports effective September 8, covering steel, home appliances, agricultural equipment, electronic products and other sectors.

In South America, Brazil has turned its attention to trade issues involving Chinese imports. On September 3, Brazil launched an anti‑dumping investigation into Chinese tempered glass. Further trade measures remain to be seen.

Overall, recent global trade policies are dominated by tariff hikes, retaliatory actions and trade investigations. Foreign‑trade enterprises shall closely monitor tariff shifts and compliance risks.
