Tariff Policies Change Rapidly – Pacifinex Keeps You Informed!

Global tariff policies saw a new round of adjustments over the past week.

The most notable changes came from the United States. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released new tariff rules covering steel, aluminum and copper products, shifting the taxation basis from metal content proportion to total commodity value. While raw steel, aluminum and copper materials remain subject to a high tariff rate of 50%, tariffs on some derivative products have been lowered to 25%, 15% or 10%, with certain items even eligible for a 0% tariff, marking one of the biggest tariff reduction announcements this week.

Meanwhile, the U.S. keeps tightening trade restrictions on certain Chinese goods. On June 10, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued its final ruling in the anti-dumping and countervailing duty (AD/CVD) investigation into Chinese fiberglass door panels. The final anti-dumping duty rate ranges from 41.82% to 147.85%, and the countervailing duty rate stands between 58.50% and 186.46%. The combined maximum tax rate hits 208.49%, drastically lifting entry costs of such products for the U.S. market. The global tariff system is now entering a more complex adjustment cycle.
